News - February 2020 - May 2020

Since my last blog, there are a few new announcements that I am delighted to share with you. Next month (March), after nearly a year, I shall be returning on Tuesday the 3rd, at 12:30, to perform at St Mary The Virgin, All Saints Church, in Potter Bar. This is a lunchtime recital and I will be performing brand new compositions, as well as a variety of music from the last 100 years. This church is a fine building and a real pleasure to perform in. If you live in or around Potters Bar, you are most welcome.

On Friday the 20th of March, my piece ‘Homage To Beethoven’ (for solo piano), is being premiered by the pianist Mario Miralles at a special celebration marking 250 years since the composers birth, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. The music of Beethoven made a huge impression on me in my teens, when I was discovering this strange thing called ‘classical music’ and I became especially interested in his piano sonatas. While my Homage is written in my own contemporary style, I have tried to express the drama and grand gestures of the grass composer, in a series of motifs.

In April, I head off to a brand new venue (for me!), Solihull Methodist Church In the Midlands. Here I will be performing several new pieces I have written as well as new repertoire I am keen to try out. Over the next 12 months, I am building a body go new work for soloists and small ensembles. These include music for; solo flute, electric viola and effects, SATB, solo piano, solo guitar and flute and guitar duo and flute and piano duo.

Schott Music 21st Century Music Evening

The following month (of May), I will be hosting a special recital at Schott Music, London where I will be presenting several brand new compositions in an evening recital in the intimate setting in the heart of London. In the first half, there will be premiers of pieces fI have written for solo piano, flute and guitar and also, solo guitar. I will be joined by the performer; Katie Sasanova (flute), Jiacheng Zhu (piano) and Martin Vishnick (guitar) and in the second half, will be performing brand new pieces written by living composers.
